CHLOE’S STORY

Chloé Temtchine is an Award-Winning Singer, Songwriter, Speaker, and the creator of “Super Brave,” an interview series that features both kids and adults who are living with a chronic illness.

Chloe lived with Pulmonary Hypertension and PVOD (Pulmonary Veno Occlusive Disease) for 12 years. On August 5, 2020, after suffering a cardiac arrest, being in a coma for four days, and on life support (ECMO) for almost a month, Chloé received a life-saving, double-lung transplant. The surgery was performed at UCLA by the remarkable Dr. Abbas Ardehali.

In 2013, Chloé had just finished an album with Smash Mouth’s Grammy-nominated Greg Camp. All set to go on a world tour with Camp, Chloé suffered congestive right-heart failure and was rushed to the ER. She was told she had Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH), a rare and fatal lung condition, little time left to live, and that she would have to be on oxygen for the rest of her life.

To say that Chloé’s world was turned upside down in an instant is an understatement. She had spent the previous five years dealing with a variety of physical symptoms (shortness of breath, chest pain, dry cough, body aches, racing heartbeat, fatigue, and water retention) that left many respected and acclaimed doctors at some of the most prestigious medical institutions perplexed. During this time, Chloé was diagnosed with everything from pulmonary embolism to sarcoidosis to autoimmune disease. One physician even suggested that she see a psychiatrist. All of them were wrong.

Chloé’s story, though, is not about the years of doctor-hopping, misdiagnoses, or landing in the Critical Care Unit. It's about what happened afterwards and where she is today.

When Chloé left the hospital (in 2013), despite being given a short time to live, she was determined to do everything possible to heal her body. She took control of her destiny and completely altered her lifestyle, utilizing Five Key Principles: Nutritional Lifestyle, Exercise, Mindset, Creative Expression, Quality Time With Family & Friends.

Seven years after being released from the critical care unit, Chloé was writing music, performing, and using her talent to inspire and to empower those affected with PAH and other chronic illnesses.

In that time, she released three albums: Be Brave, Strangers, and Lead Me Home. Chloé wrote the song Be Brave shortly after she was released from the hospital's critical care unit. Over 150,000 copies were downloaded within the first 90 days of its release. She just completed her fourth album, titled You Save Me, and is working on her fifth album.

Once out of the hospital, Chloé jumped right back into songwriting mode. By 2014, Chloé (who sings with a paralyzed vocal cord and who sang with her oxygen tank that she affectionately named Steve Martin) debuted Be Brave, a song about making the choice to live despite life’s challenges.

After receiving a life-saving, double-lung transplant on August 5, 2020, Chloé has found new meaning, purpose, and passion.  Her previous mission of inspiring and empowering those affected by Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and other chronic illnesses has expanded to include bringing awareness to the importance of organ donation.

As a singer and songwriter, Chloe has received several awards including the Avon Award for "Best Song,” presented to her by Fergie. As a speaker, she has worked with many worldwide companies and organizations, such as Johnson and Johnson and Transplants For Kids, motivating teams and individuals alike by sharing her inspiring story and passing on her powerful message of hope, all with her singular sense of humor.

Chloe has always been a motivating force to anyone who has known her; struggling to stay alive for 12 years only sharpened her perspective, understanding, and compassion. She now focuses her efforts on helping those who are facing the most difficult of challenges. She started Super Brave Kids as a platform that would allow her to empower children to see beyond their obstacles and to in turn use their own stories and the lessons they’ve learned in an effort to inspire others.

She founded The Chloe Temtchine Foundation (TCTF), a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering people living with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and other life-threatening illnesses, through entertainment.

Funds raised through TCTF help support endeavors such as Super Brave Kids and The Smile Tour, a project which consists of Chloé traveling to leading hospitals across the United States to perform for pediatric patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and other chronic illnesses as well as for their families, friends, and hospital staff. Her goal is to impart hope and inspiration. She is committed to generating public awareness of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in the hopes that one day there will be a cure.

Chloé launched her 2019 Smile Tour at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and is currently gearing up for her 2022 Smile Tour. She has also launched a new brand called Super Brave Kids, dedicated to empowering kids living with health conditions. Super Brave Kids is a series that she created in order to continue spreading her message. It consists of Chloe interviewing pediatric patients who are living with a chronic illness - Chloe calls them "Superheroes" - with the aim of providing hope and inspiration to them and to those watching.

Fluent in French, Spanish, and English, Chloe has always been a consummate communicator. When it comes to expressing herself, she doesn’t hold back. She created "The Oxygen Sisters" alter egos that allow her to convey the lessons she's learned about life, empowering others in a more comedic and fun way.

Chloe is the recipient of the PHA Inaugural 2014 Chloé Temtchine Be Brave Award, and the Tom Lantos Innovation in Community Service Award. She is widely regarded by her peers in the music industry. She has written with numerous, Grammy-Award-winning songwriters such as Toby Gad (John Legend, Beyonce…), Guy Roche (Christina Aguilera…), and Sasha Skarbek (James Blunt..), to name a few.

Chloé has been a guest/performer on Hallmark’s Home and Family, The Doctors (CBS), The Nate Berkus Show, Fox 4 News, and has been featured twice on KTLA (KTLA 2021 interview).  She has performed on Late Night with David Letterman, Fearless Music (FOX 5), Fox 5 News, Fox News and is the voice behind the national commercial celebrating the 100th anniversary of American Express. Her story has been featured in Shoutout LA, LA Weekly, Huffington Post,  Daily Mail, Thrive Global, twice in the New York Post (New York Post 2021), and Digital Journal to name a few.

Chloé’s single “Brand New Day” was featured on The Early Show (CBS). Her original songs have played on various TV series and films.

As a speaker and performer, Chloe is on a mission to use her music and story to help those in need of finding hope, motivation, and inspiration and to continue to bring awareness to Pulmonary Hypertension and, now, to the importance of organ donation.

Knowing firsthand what it feels like to truly be alive and to thrive despite Herculean challenges, Chloe believes that a combination of perspective, gratitude, trust, never losing one’s sense of humor, and putting in the actual work is a magical formula when it comes to taking one’s power back.

A sought-after motivational speaker/performer, she has been retained by worldwide brands, multinational pharmaceutical companies, and regularly performs at private “invitation-only” events.
